First of all, welcome to breeders.ca ! We are excited to have you visit us and we hope that over time you come to rely on us as the source for everything breeders. This has been a work of passion for us, and we are committed to breeders.ca for the long term. We are actively working on a number of new partnerships and product enhancements. However, most importantly, we want to create a community where Canadians can access all the information they need about breeders from a trusted Canadian source. Our focus is the Canadian consumer and we will work to earn the right to be your destination in the future.
We are a group of Canadian entrepreneurs based in Toronto, Ontario. Our management has strong business development, website development, marketing and joint venture experience. We are approaching this venture with a view that if we create a resource of value for you, we will create a business that is sustainable and creates value for us.
It is very important for you to conduct your own due diligence when searching and selecting a breeder. We provide the community to connect you with potential breeders, but you need to make sure you visit, and get to know the operations of the breeder to make certain you are selecting the right breeder for you. Factors such as quality, health and environment for your animal are very important in an effective selection of a breeder. The fact that you could be doing business with someone over the internet relating to a living and breathing animal, means you need to be very careful and always do your homework. Before making any type of agreement, please visit the breeder. We can not stress that enough. By meeting the breeder you will also be able to better assess if the animal is well suited for your needs and lifestyle. A good breeder will always be open and honest with you. We encourage whereever possible the adoption of pets and encourage all pet owners to have their animals spayed/neutered and micro chipped.
Here are our suggestions for what you should look for in a breeder:
1. Breeders gives you sufficient time to have your animal checked by a vet.
2. Provide written instructions on care and feeding of your animal.
3. Provide proof that the animal has been examined by a vet.
4. As mentioned previously, they must be open and encourage you to visit their premises.
5. Should provide written conditions of sale.
6. Have clear expectations with you on why you are buying the animal, as a pet, or to breed.
